The beautiful craft city of Shilparamam is located at the capital city of Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh. The village is also known as "The Crafts Village".
Shilparamam is an arts and crafts village which sprawls in a 50-acre campus and has on its display art exhibits and specimens of handicrafts from all over the country.
Crafts Village was inaugurated by late Dr. M Channa Reddy, former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, India on 11th March 1995 and it was named as "Shilparamam".
On the entrance are terra-cotta horses that leads to the inside of crafts village with traditional festive looking boundaries. A major attraction is the ground where rural and urban artistes meet and interact through workshops, seminars and festivals. Renowned classical dancers and music maestros as well as young artistes come here from all over the country to perform.
A tribal museum is an attracting part of shilparamam which is an special effort to encourage folk and tribal art in Andhra Pradesh. Folk performances by artistes from the interiors of Andhra Pradesh provide an opportunity to the urban audience to experience the nuances of rural life and culture.
The "All India Festival of Arts and Crafts" at Shilparamam is a festival enjoyed by the art lovers and normal visitors alike. It is also an opportunity for the creative artisans to present their talent and earn fame in the country.
A boating facility is available for tourists to take a small round around a artificial pond, which is enjoyable.
For boating it would cost you Rs. 15/- per head and it will take around 20 mins to complete pedalling.
